West Ham United and Celtic are reportedly in battle to sign Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo who believes is a mix of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. The Bristol City striker believes that he has qualities similar to the Ex-Premier League striker duo of Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba. Both Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry earned legendary status at Chelsea and Arsenal respectively by leading the London teams to several major titles.
22-year-old Semenyo has been in very good form for Bristol City this season with an attacking return of six goals and eight assists from his first 21 league games this season. He has been a major source of goals and assists for the Robins this season and they would struggle to hold on to his services when the summer transfer window reopens in the matter of a few months.
Fellow English Championship team Nottingham Forest wanted to sign Semenyo during the winter transfer window, but Bristol City were not willing let him go on a cheap. Their £20m valuation of the player was not met by Forest via their bid. The said bid was eventually thrown out. It remains to be seen if Nottingham Forest will return for him in the summer. If they do, Forest will have to do battle with both Celtic and West Ham United. Premier League side Watford also wanted to sign Semenyo in the winter transfer window, but a move didn’t happen.
Tony Finnigan is the agent of Semenyo and he recently told Football Scotland that Celtic are keen on signing his client. However, a move to the Premier League could be on the cards for him as that has always been his dream. Semenyo wants to emulate his idols Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry by playing in the Premier League.
