Former Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has been increasingly linked with a return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign.
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has also claimed that it would be great if the Belgian international decided to make a return to the club. However, Antonio Conte has not encouraged such transfer talks even before the end of the campaign. Lukaku left the club in a £ 23 million deal a couple of years ago, but he has since progressed into one of the best strikers in the Premier League. Lukaku is set to finish the campaign top of the goalscoring charts and win the Golden Boot award for the first time in his career.
He was linked with a £ 60 million a return to Chelsea even last summer, but Everton failed to release him. Now, his transfer evolution has shot up to £ 80 million, but that has not prevented Chelsea from having a keen interest in the player. Drogba served as a mentor to Lukaku when he came to the club in 2012 as an 18-year-old.
Now, Drogba says that it would be great if Lukaku came to the club once again. Drogba recently signed for Phoenix Rising where he will become an owner. Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, and James Rodriguez are the players linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer.
“I think it’s not the right time to talk about this.I have great respect for Didier Drogba because he’s a legend for Chelsea but I can’t talk about this because it’s not right to talk about players who are playing for another team. You must have respect for other players, for the other teams and also for my own players,” said Conte. The Italian manager secure a fifth Premier league title for Chelsea after beating West Brom 1-0.
