This summer, France will host the European Championship and Didier Deschamps’ men will fancy their chances of success on home soil. Without a doubt, this French side is filled with plenty of young, upcoming talent in what is widely regarded as a ‘golden generation’ for French football.
At the time of writing, Coral are pricing France at 3/1 in their Euro 2016 betting odds and it would take a brave man to back against them considering the talent in their squad. And while they have a potentially straightforward opening group, it won’t be easy and France will need to be at their very best to compete with the likes of Germany and Spain.
Anthony Martial may well be the key to France’s hopes this summer. The Manchester United star is incredibly versatile and, like former France international Nicholas Anelka, can play in various positions across the front. At just 20 years old, he’s a supreme talent and may be the man to lead the line for his nation at this summer’s tournament – which would be a huge honour for the youngster.
However, it’s very much a team game and while Martial, Pogba and France’s other youngsters are all game changers, the onus is on Deschamps’ side to unite as one and show the rest of Europe that they are the BEST team on the continent. If they can do that, they’ll win the tournament – it’s as simple as that.
As of March 17th, France are priced at 3/10 with Coral to finish top of Group A – and you’ll certainly score an own goal missing these betting odds. Deschamps’ men look well placed to topple Switzerland, Albania and Romania and, barring a major catastrophe, should earn themselves a favourable tie in the first knockout round as well.
From there, it’s about two things: luck and skill. France have plenty of talent and they can control their own destiny in that sense but when it comes to luck, who knows. It’s set to be an exciting competition and if Deschamps’ side are fortunate, they could be lifting the trophy on July 10th in front of an ecstatic French crowd.
