Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony has said that he wants to emulate the success of his countryman Didier Drogba, who is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international is currently playing with the Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, but he has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer. The Premier league outfit have been struggling without the services of a physical presence like Drogba. They have identified Bony as an ideal replacement for Drogba. He is expected to cost around £ 12 million.
He has said that he is definitely going to leave Vitesse at the end of the season because he is not happy at the club. He has revealed how the club has avoided negotiations with his agent while also not giving him the importance that he deserved. Vitesse are in with a shout to win the Dutch league title for the first time in its history, and Bony has been a major reason for it. He has been in inspirational form this season. He has managed to score 24 goals in the league alone, which has propelled him to the top of the goal scoring charts.
He was initially linked with West Ham, but it is thought that Chelsea have stolen the march due to their good relationships with Vitesse.
“Next summer I am gone. The wonderful career of Didier Drogba is come to an end and there are plenty of potential successors. This is my moment. But it is difficult if you play for a club like Vitesse. There have been many promises, and not just to me. For me, it was also about money, but that was not the most important thing, it was about respect. And I don’t think Vitesse showed it. For example, my agent has repeatedly contacted the club, but no one answered,” said Bony.
