Didier Drogba has been an impressive scoring form since moving to MLS club Montréal Impact.
The goals continued to flow even in the 3-0 win over New England Revolution. This was one of the few clean sheets kept by the team. Despite not being sounded defensively, Montréal Impact have been able to maintain a steady flow of points and it has helped them remain in the play-off places. Drogba, though, is not happy with the goals conceded by the team. It means that the MLS outfit have to regularly rely on their strikers a lot in order to get victories.
The former Chelsea striker says that a return to sound defensive performance is of paramount importance to Montréal Impact and they are working very hard in order to achieve this perfection. The work put in on the training ground clearly is starting to have its impact since Montréal Impact have kept to clean sheets in the last three games. The next game against the Eastern conference’s bottom club Chicago Fire promises more clean sheets on the way.The team were able to get out of a poor defensive display in the recent match against Chicago Fire due to the brilliance of attackers like Drogba.
“The group has realized that we can play some big games without conceding goals. It’s a bit of a contrast from the game here against Chicago, when we conceded many. It’s good. We’re working to get that clean sheet, as we did today. We’re happier with the clean sheet than with the three goals scored, even though it pleases the fans to see those goals,” said Drogba. “It’s easy [to play with him]. He can hold up the ball, and he’s incredibly unselfish. It’s a huge positive to have a guy like that on our team. … And I can say I got an assist from Didier Drogba!” said Duka.
